We are talking about Prisma, free iOS app that in just 10 days has been downloaded 1 million times. Through a sophisticated technology that puts together A.I. and neuronal networking, Prisma analyses the layers of the image to recreate it. Not simple filters, like Instagram, but elements that deconstruct and re-make the picture starting from zero. As Alexey Moiseenkov, the Russian co-founder, said “We do the image fresh,”. “It’s not similar to the Instagram filter where you just layer over … We draw something like a real artist would.”
Like a real artist…and this is why it has a huge success. Because it responds to a real need, especially in an historical moment where technology seems to do everything better than us. Well, with this app we feel like we are doing something. Even if we just have to choose the effect we want, selecting among different art styles, like Kandinskij, Munch, Lichtenstein, Chagall and also Picasso.
But why do we feel more creative with Prisma?
Surely the immediacy is fundamental. Easy to use, just upload the image and choose among the 33 filters. Way a little, sine the app needs to have time to re-elaborate the picture and transform it into a work of art. And then share. During these few days, 650 thousand posts with the hashtag #prisma have been posted.

Behind the quickness of this app, there’s a trick. Everything that is created is stored on cloud, not on the user’s device. Nothing is memorized, but simply shared.
The creator revealed that only four people developed the app, and they started last spring, in 2016. Incredible!!!
